The Executive Governor of Cross River State Sen. Bassey Otu has approved the appointment of Mr. Akedo Okoi Edet as the Statistician-General of the state.
The appointment was issued in a press release signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, tasking the appointee on advancing data management across the state.
According to the release which is dated 4 March, 2026, “the appointment reinforces the administration’s commitment to data-driven governance and excellence.” It noted that the decision reflects the government’s resolve to strengthen statistical systems, enhance evidence-based planning, and deepen transparency in policy formulation across the state.
Mr. Akedo is expected to deploy his expertise toward advancing data management and improving statistical coordination statewide.
The appointment takes immediate effect as of the time and date of the release.
