The Cross River State Police Command has announced a statewide security reinforcement ahead of the 2026 Easter celebrations, assuring residents and visitors of robust measures to ensure safety before, during, and after the festive period.

The Commissioner of Police, Rashid B. Afegbua, disclosed that strategic deployments of personnel and operational assets have been carried out across key locations in the state as part of efforts to guarantee a peaceful celebration.

According to the Command, comprehensive operational strategies have been activated to prevent any breakdown of law and order and to deter criminal activities. These include intensified intelligence-led patrols, surveillance operations, and targeted raids on identified flashpoints across various jurisdictions.

Senior officers, including Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders, have been directed to sustain high visibility policing and proactive engagements within their areas of responsibility.

The Command emphasized that all operations will strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures of the Nigeria Police Force and align with the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
With security concerns typically heightened during festive periods due to increased movement and public gatherings, the Police warned that it would take decisive action against any individual or group attempting to disrupt public peace.

While extending Easter greetings to Christian faithful, the Commissioner urged residents to celebrate responsibly and remain vigilant. He stressed the importance of community partnership in policing, calling on citizens to provide timely and credible information to security agencies.

“The success of our security arrangements depends largely on public cooperation,” the statement noted, reinforcing the need for residents to report suspicious activities promptly.

The Command also made available emergency contact lines, assuring the public of rapid response to distress calls throughout the holiday period.

As preparations peak across Cross River State, authorities say the heightened security posture is designed not only to prevent crime but also to boost public confidence and ensure that the Easter celebrations proceed without incident.
