An unnamed individual, female, is currently in the custody of the Nigerian Police in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area in relation to the death of a commercial bus driver, Ekpo Okpantum who was found dead with a gunshot wound at the premises of the Apostolic Primary School in Ugep.
Sources say the lady in question was with Okpantum, a native of Lekpakom, Ijiman, in Ugep when he was shot.
“She fled the scene without alerting anyone,” the source says. She was later arrested and is detained for questioning.
The Shooting
Okpantum was found lying dead with a gunshot wound on his right leg close to his scrotum. The shooting incident occurred at about 9:50PM on Sunday with his corpse evacuated nearly two hours later and deposited at an undisclosed mortuary.
A bus driver, Mr. Okpantum who buried his father recently and is married, works with Crical Motors, and shuttles passengers between Aba, in Abia State and Ugep, his hometown.
Police sources also say they are investigating claims that the lady in custody had an affair with the late Okpantum and that another of her lovers may have been present when the shooting occurred.

NYCN Sue For Calm
Meanwhile, the President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Ijiman unit, Sunday Ojei has urged the youths in Ijiman community to remain peaceful and go about their activities.
Ojei said that the NYCN will ensure that ongoing investigations to identify the perpetrator are concluded.
However, the loss has left the community in shock with the topic on the lips of many in different gatherings.
