The Government of Cross River State has summoned the Obol Lopon of Ugep and Paramount Ruler of Yakurr Local Government Area and other stakeholders over the recurring communal clashes in the LGA.
In a release made available to CrossRiverWatch, the Deputy Governor, Rt. Honourable Peter Odey, on behalf of Governor Bassey Otu summoned them for a crucial meeting.
The meeting slated for Thursday, June 11, 2026, will be held in the Deputy Governor’s Conference Room by 3pm.
Those invited are honourable members of the Cross River State House of Assembly from Yakurr I and II State Constituencies, honourable commissioner in the State Executive Council from Yakurr LGA.
The Executive Chairman of Yakurr Local Government Area, Obol Lopon of Ugep and Paramount Ruler of Yakurr.
Others include the Obol Lopon of Idomi, five stakeholders from Ugep Community and five stakeholders from Idomi Community.
The directives warned that attendance is mandatory and no representation will be allowed, the release signed by the Commissioner of Information, Erasmus Ekpang stated.
