The family of Nneoma Rosaline Ekenma O. Kalu (née Nsi Ajike), mother of CrossRiverWatch’s Editor-at-Large, Charles Kalu, has been announced.
Mrs. Kalu, fondly known as Mama Rosa, passed on peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the age of 85.
According to the funeral announcement signed by Charles O. Kalu, on behalf of the family, burial rites will commence on Thursday, August 27, with a service of songs from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the family residence, Ndia Kalu Compound, 102 Ezera Road, Asaga, Ohafia, Abia State.The service will be officiated by the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, Asaga Ohafia Urban Parish.
On Friday, August 28, her body will depart the King of Kings Specialist Hospital at 8:00 AM for a lying-in-state at the family residence. It will be followed by a brief stopover at Ndia Nkwoma Compound and Ndia Awaodo Compound before the funeral service begins at 10:00 AM at the Coronata Primary School Field, Amuke Road, Asaga Ohafia.
Interment will take place immediately after the funeral service at her husband’s residence – 102 Ezera Road, Asaga Ohafia on Friday, August 28, 2026, while a reception will follow at the Coronata Primary School Field.
The funeral rites will conclude on Sunday, August 30, with a family thanksgiving service at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, Asaga Ohafia Urban Parish.
The family expressed gratitude to God for the life of their beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, praying that her gentle and kind soul rests in perfect peace.
