The Cross River State Local Government Service Commission has warned the public against falling victim to individuals soliciting money under the guise of facilitating their inclusion in the state’s staff payroll.
The Commission, in a public service announcement signed by its Chairman, Hon. Eyo Nsa Ekpo, Esq., clarified that it is not responsible for the staff payroll and does not request or process names for inclusion in the payroll.
According to the Commission, staff duly employed through the appropriate process have continued to receive their monthly salaries without any hitch.
The warning comes amid reports that some unscrupulous individuals have been taking advantage of persons seeking employment by demanding money purportedly to secure their inclusion in the payroll.
The Commission also disclosed that the Panel of Enquiry constituted by the Cross River State Government to investigate the disputed recent recruitment exercise has submitted its findings and recommendations and is currently awaiting appropriate government action.
It cautioned members of the public, particularly those making efforts to secure payroll inclusion, to resist any demand for money or other forms of inducement.
The Commission stressed that the government would not allow any illegality arising from the last recruitment exercise to resurface and urged Cross Riverians to report individuals involved in such schemes to the appropriate authorities to enable necessary action to be taken.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent system in which due process is upheld and citizens are given equal access to opportunities in governance, in line with the “People First” policy of the current administration.
