Arrested ex-convict being watched by a UNICAL security man
Arrested ex-convict

An ex- convict has been caught again in the act of stealing by a combined team of the University of Calabar, UNICAL and security men and men of the Nigeria Police.

The suspect whose name was not given was said to have snatched a student’s hand bag containing valuables and attempted to escape before he was caught around 4-5pm yesterday.

According to a lady who simply identified herself as Theresa, a member of the UNICAL security team, the alleged thief is someone she knew as a hardened criminal before joining the UNICAL security job.

She said, “Last two months he was also caught and brought here, he will sit with you in the exam hall with exam script not writing but looking for women with big phones and bag but he’s not a student”.

She revealed that the last time he was caught his wears (trouser, shirt and under wear) were left behind as he fled away while arrangements were made to call the police.

Another unidentified UNICAL security man recalled that the last time he was caught, a prison warden identified him as an ex convict who was just released and another police officer identified him also as a ‘customer’ at the station.
