The Cross River State governor, Senator Ben Ayade, has directed that all necessary State resources be mobilized to ensure that adequate medical attention is given to the Chief Coach of Calabar Rovers FC, Mr. John Okon Ene, who is lying critically ill at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Calabar.
The Chairman of Cross River State Sports Commission, Orok Otu Duke, who disclosed this in Calabar, said that the Calabar Rovers Coach has been facing some medical challenges and is currently in a coma at the UCTH.
He said that the Governor is concerned about the medical condition of Coach John Ene and is desirous to have him back to normal health.
Duke disclosed that Coach Ene has undergone a CT scan and currently needs prayers and support from all quarters to get him back to good health.
The Sports Commission Chairman who led other members of the Commission on a visit to Coach Ene at UCTH was optimistic that he will recover from his ailment.
Coach John Okon Ene, is an Ex Nigerian International footballer, who is fondly remembered for his exploits in: Acada United FC of UNICAL, Rovers FC of Calabar, BCC Lions of Gboko, Akwa United of Uyo, Flying Eagles and Super Eagles, during an illustrious football career.
He is one of the most highly decorated footballers from Cross River State.
