The Former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, Alphonsus Ogar Eba, has officially withdrawn his membership from the ruling party, citing what he described as the “erosion of the party’s founding values.”
In a letter he signed dated May 7, 2026, and addressed to the Secretary of APC in Echumofana Ward, Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, Eba, requested that his name be removed from both the hard copy and digital membership registers of the party before they are transmitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The former APC chairman stated that the ideals of “peace, love, unity and growth,” which he said formed the basis of his political mission within the party, had been “totally eroded, annihilated and jettisoned with jiggery pokery.”
According to him, the development forced him to seek “an alternative platform” where he could continue what he described as his “political evangelism” anchored on those principles.
Despite his resignation, Eba expressed gratitude to members of the party for the opportunity to serve as state chairman. “Permit me to use this medium to express my sincere appreciation for the opportunity and privilege to have served as the State Chairman of the party,” the letter read.
He acknowledged receiving both goodwill and ill-will during his time in office, while wishing the party well in its future affairs.
