The Social and Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Mr. Charles O. Kalu, has announced the burial arrangements for his mother and family matriarch, Mrs. Rosaline Ekenma Kalu, who was called yonder on May 22, 2026, at the age of 85.
According to a statement signed by Charles Kalu who is also CrossRiverWatch’s Editor-at-Large, on behalf of the family, the late Mrs. Kalu will be laid to rest on Friday, August 28, 2026, at her residence, Ndia Kalu Compound, 102 Ezera Road, Asaga Ohafia.
The funeral program will commence with a Christian Service of Songs on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
Described by her family as a devout Christian, community leader and woman of immense courage, Mrs. Kalu was remembered for a life devoted to God, her family and the service of humanity.
Popularly known as “Mma Rosa,” the deceased was particularly recognized for her contributions to the Women’s Guild of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, especially in Ohafia, where she received several awards in recognition of her dedication to Christian service.
Beyond her church activities, Mrs. Kalu was also celebrated as a respected women’s leader and mentor who influenced younger generations and touched many lives through her kindness, compassion and selfless service.
The family described her as a woman of unwavering faith and resilience whose values of sacrifice, perseverance and love would continue to inspire her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and others whose lives she touched.
Her death has continued to attract tributes from family members, friends and community leaders, who remember her as a symbol of unconditional love and service.
A reception for guests will be held immediately after the interment at the Coronata Primary School Field, Amuke Road, Asaga Ohafia.
As the family prepares to bid their matriarch a final farewell, they described her passing as the end of a remarkable life well lived, marked by faith, service and an enduring legacy of love.
The family expressed appreciation to friends, relatives and well-wishers for their prayers, support and goodwill, and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul.
