Ten final-year students of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Calabar (UNICAL) have been awarded the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) Student Hardship Grant for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The development was disclosed by the Vice Chancellor of the varsity, Prof. Offiong Okon, in a post on his official Facebook account.
According to the Vice Chancellor, each of the ten beneficiaries will receive £400, bringing the total value of the grant to £4,000.
He noted that the grant is aimed at providing financial relief to students facing economic difficulties, enabling them to concentrate on their academic work and successfully complete their programs.
The beneficiaries include Odey Victor Odey, who has a Grade Point Averages (GPAs) of 4.67, Iro Ifeanyichukwu Michael, 4.12, Odogbo Gloria Margeratte, 3.44, Afangideh Kenneth Asuquo, 4.50, Durojaye Kolawole Emmanuel, 3.85, Bate Michael Ojong, 4.17, Ezeh Stephanie Ifeoma, 3.30, Nwaogbe Rejoice Ebube, 4.00, Christopher Enyinwa Onwukwe, 3.44, and Ogar Wisdom Ogar, 4.45.
