The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has suspended nine students for one academic session following their involvement in examination misconduct.
The suspension was approved by the University Senate based on the recommendations of the Senate Examination Misconduct Committee (SEMC).
The decision was conveyed in a letter signed by the University Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Chukwuka Icha.
According to the letter, the affected students have been suspended for the 2026/2027 academic session and are expected to resume their studies in the 2027/2028 academic session.
Five of the affected students are from the Department of Theatre and Media Studies, Faculty of Arts. They are Ogabi Christabel Emmanuel (20244008945TR), Atim Sarah Mofam (202550738391DF), Wasim Kumato (22/038144152), Onum Kingsley Evela (20255029158HA), and Reuben David Chinonso (202440673839IA).
Others include Etuk Emediong Loius (22/044144044) of the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Okoronkwo Eleazar Chidera (23/09414032) of the Department of Geology, Faculty of Physical Sciences, Atamgba Victor Yeneochiakim (22/045144192) of the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, and Thialo James Akobi (19/01445039TR) of the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences.
The university has directed the Acting Chief Security Officer, Deans, Heads of Departments and other relevant units to take note of the suspension and ensure full compliance with the Senate’s directive.
