The Labour Party Candidate for the Cross River State House of Assembly, Yakurr 1 Constituency, Butum Spera has withdrew his interest and collapsed his structure for James Ibor, Esq., of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Comrade Butum Spera disclosed this in a letter addressed to his constituents and supporters stating that the gesture came after careful reflection, extensive consultations, and deep consideration of the prevailing political realities.
The decision, he said was not an easy one, but he believes that leadership is not always about personal ambition and “sometimes, it is about putting the collective interest of our people above individual aspirations and making decisions that promote unity, progress and a better future for our constituency.”
“Having taken this decision, I wish to publicly declare my support for Barr. James Ibor, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for House of Assembly, Yakurr 1 Constituency,” he pledged.
He noted that his constituency needs a representative who will provide purposeful leadership, effective representation and a strong voice for the people, expressing that “at this moment, I am prepared to work with like-minded stakeholders, supporters and constituents toward achieving these objectives.”
He thanked his supporters, friends, associates and everyone who believed in his candidacy, acknowledging their sacrifices, encouragement and unwavering confidence in him.
“You have not lost me, and I have not abandoned the cause we believe in. Our commitment to the development and advancement of Yakurr 1 remains firm,” he assured.
He emphasized that politics is a journey, and every chapter presents an opportunity to learn, build relationships and serve, appealing to all his supporters to respect his decision and join him in supporting a peaceful, united and progressive political direction for Yakurr 1.
