JUST IN: Police Secretly Move Businessman Arrested For ‘Bullying Governor Otu Online’

The two Policemen attached to Zone 6 Command of the Nigerian Police in Calabar, on Wednesday secretly moved Cross River born businessman, Mr. Denis Odama from the FESTAC Division of the Force where he was held following his arrest.

The duo had arrived from Calabar to move Mr. Odama – a move that was fiercely resisted by friends and associates.

On Wednesday, the Police asked all parties to return on Thursday morning. However, the duo went back and signed for his release, taking him to an unknown destination before he will be brought to Calabar.

Officers attached to the Division had told friends and associates that Mr. Odama, a doctoral candidate who missed his examinations on Tuesday due to the detention, that, his arrest followed a petition against him for “bullying Governor Bassey Otu online.”

Mr. Otu, a former federal lawmaker is the Governor of Cross River State. He assumed office on May 29, 2023.

Sources in Government House say he is not aware of the situation as he is out of the country on official assignment.

Mr. Odama has been satirical and sarcastic in his criticism of the administration.

Meanwhile, the Divisional Police Officer in Charge of the FESTAC Division in Lagos where Mr. Odama was held is said to have bowed to the pressure from Calabar and released him to the two officers to travel with him to Calabar.

Several reactions have trailed the arrest with many calling for his immediate release.
