The Cross River State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation has lambasted the poor service delivery of the Cross River State Water Board, calling it “poor” and below par”.
The committee made this known through its chairman; Hon. Eteng Williams at the Assembly complex during the ongoing 2018 Budget defense with MDA’S.
The committee frowned seriously at the poor service delivery of Water Board across the State and especially Calabar Metropolis and expressed their displeasure at the Managing Director of the State Water Board, Dr. Godwin Igile for the poor services to the people of the State, which the Committee described as shameful.
In his presentation of the 2017 Budget performance, the MD of Water Board, Dr. Godwin Igile, told the Committee that for the past six months, water supply has been constant across the streets and major towns in the State and that the Board has been able to establish presence in over 3 local governments across the state.
It will be recalled that the MD of the board last week Sunday while speaking on ‘The Dialogue With Agba Jalingo’, a program on Hit FM Calabar, accused operators of private boreholes of deliberately sabotaging the operations of the Water Board by destroying some of their pipes and promised that the law will soon catch up with them.
