Governor Benedict Ayade is currently meeting with bigwigs of the All Progressives Congress (APC), discussing his proposed defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Government Houses sources say some Governors elected on the platform of the APC and others are meeting with him.
He is also said to have sought the advise of his principal aides who have all shared different opinions about it.
Topical amongst this was the issue of betrayal by those who may follow him if he defects.
The Governor is also said to have directed a revalidation exercise for his appointees handled directly by his Chief of Staff, Martin Orim to verify those who may actually defect with him.
More is expected after the meeting.
While some are in high spirits that he may defect today, others say the meetings are part of plans to finish strong with the signature projects.
The Governor has had running battles with a faction of the PDP in Cross River State led by National Assembly members and lost out at the ward and chapter congresses of the party.
