A Cross Riverian, Bright Eworo who graduated with a first class degree honors in Kazan National Research Technological University in Russia is currently facing a race against time to raise 12,000 Dollars for his Masters Degree program.
Eworo who hails from Abi told CrossRiverWatch in a telephone interview that he was a private student during his Bachelors Degree program and following the automatic admission given to him by the institution due to his outstanding performance, he is currently in a race against time to raise his tuition for the two years program which costs over N4million when converted at N325 per dollar and needs to be paid on or before September 1, 2016 when the program begins.
“I have been offered admission recently from the University to continue for (a) 2 years master’s degree program, which I am willing to proceed for this useful offer from my university, coming 1st September 2016, to finish 31st August 2018 toward 29.03.03- Chemical Technological Processing Engineering, But there is no finance means for me to pursue (my) academic career offered from my University” Eworo told this reporter by mail.
“The first semester in the first year is roughly 5,000 dollars and the second year, it rises to over 6,000 dollars totaling about 11,600 dollars” he added.
The Ano-Ikan native of Anong-Bahumono village in Abi further disclosed that he settled for technology,designing, printing and packaging processing engineering after he was convinced by the International Affairs Dean to drop petrochemical engineering which left him struggling at first because he was the only black person in the Faculty of Polymers but after much effort, he graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.78.
Eworo who said that his “Financial constraints were tough” especially in his third and final year pointed out that he had written for assistance from both the state and federal governments which till date, he has not being replied.
On how he survival, he said that; “I did several menial jobs to fund my academics even when the weather (in) Russia was not as comfortable as ours usually winters and falls, just to enable me to meet up with my academics career, and during this period, I have been applying for education assistance from my state government and till date neither good attention nor good responses has been given to me.”
Also, Eworo added that his researches led his institution to send him as a delegate for an international competition organized by the Italian Technology Award in 2015 where he wrote an article about the “Technological innovations and uses of polymers material for ornamentals and buildings” shortly after which he went further and conducted some research about “The development of polypropylene compositions with dehydrated fillers like, chalks, wood flours and clay sound to produce threads that can be suitable for 3-D printer” which he says announced him as the first private student in the history of his university and to graduate with first class ,best African student of the year and best researcher of the year in his faculty.
The program, “Chemical Technological Processing Engineering” if paid for, is scheduled to finish on August 31, 2018.
