Plans have been concluded for the hosting of one of the country’s biggest tourism expo, ‘Calabar International Tourism Expo 2016’.
According to the head of the organizing team, Mr. Ofuka Ofuka during a media briefing, “This year, we present an international tourism investment forum with the theme; Promoting Sustainable Economic Growth through Diversification”.
Part of the objectives of the event includes creating a sustainable platform for domestic tourism development and exploring available opportunities in the State tourism industry.
Furthermore according to Ofuka, the event promises to create a platform for networking between local operators and prospective investors, promote new opportunities for for people event in Africa, Nigeria and Cross River in particular as well as show case its tourism assets and possible investment ventures in the sector, provide information on access to funding for the industry, tourism as a source of livelihood.
The event will also feature key lectures, gala night, tour packages, barbecue night, exhibitions, wrestling contest, fashion, award night among others.
Key speakers include: Governor of Cross River State Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, Minister of State for Aviation Senator Hadi Sarki, Director General Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation Mrs. Sally Mbanefo, Director General Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Alhaji Yakubu Mohammed
and others.
