ACROJ Condemn In Strong Terms Army Invasion Of Daily Trust Office, Calls For Public Apology

The Association of Cross River Online Journalists (ACROJ) has condemned in strong terms the recent invasion of Daily Trust Newspaper regional office in Maiduguri and headquarters in Jabi area of Abuja by Armed soldiers.

ACROJ in a press release signed by Comrade Hope Obeten, Chairman and Comrade Archibong Jeremiah, Secretary called on the Army authority to issue a public apology, saying its unconstitutional.

The release made available to our newsroom reads, “It is against the rule of law, unconditional and undemocratic, it’s a violation of the fundamental human rights of those journalists.

“The combined Armed Forces are creation of the law to safeguard lives and properties.

“The Army should officially apologize to the staff and management of Daily Trust because they were doing their constitutional duties.” It concludes.
