By Deborah Obot

The Cross River State Chapter of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), has commended the State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade for donating a 17 seater Innoson bus (IVM 6540) to the union.

According to the union Chairman, Mr. Godwin Ayendi in a statement made available to CrossRiverWatch, the union expressed appreciation to the governor and maintained that he was the most labour friendly Governor.

“The Union thanks His Excellency for fulfilling the pledge he made early last year. The vehicle will greatly aid the Union’s general mobilization activities. The gesture underscores his status as the most labour friendly Governor in Nigeria.

“Labour is pleased with HE for prompt payment of salaries a feat he has maintained from day one in office and fostering harmony. He promoted local government workers and has also redeemed his pledge by releasing the sum of N500 million for soft Agric loans to local government workers.

“HE is also on the verge of signing the amendment to the Cross River State Local Government Law consolidating the position of Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA). For Local Government Employees, Senator Benedict Ayade is deserving of a second tenure and more.” The statement reads.

Earlier, Governor Ayade had told CrossRiverWatch that NULGE is a critical ally in driving his dreams for the state and it is important for the state government to support and encourage their activities for the general good and industrial harmony in the state.

The Governor reiterated the fact that the civil service remains the engine room of any Government and sustained effort must be mobilized for the development of the State Government workers.
