The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has lost a Senior Lecturer, Dr. Georgina Ekama Okoli.
Dr. Okoli until her death was a teacher in the department of Guidance and Counseling, faculty of education.
“She passed away after a brief illness,” says her husband, Pastor Okoli. Maintaining that “the burial details will be made public when we are ready. She’s a rare gem, we will miss her.”
Dr. Okoli joined the UNICAL family of teachers penultimate September after completing her service in the Cross River State College of Education, Awi, Akamkpa LGA as a Chief Lecturer.
“Her death is one I find hard to reconcile with, the last thing I ever thought of was to loose her so soon when her words is manifesting presently in my life.” Says CrossRiverWatch Managing Editor, Mr. Archibong Jeremiah Ojanga.
Mr. Jeremiah who was her student in the Cross River State College of Education (2010-2013) added that, “she was beyond a teacher to me, she was a mother in all ramification to me and my household. She was always there with her soothing words whenever called upon.
“She inspired me beyond what words can express. She made me fall in love with my classmate who became my best friend and today my wife. She inspired us to the point that my wife became a teacher like her, in same field.
“Mummy we love you, we won’t forget you. Just when we were preparing to show you your grandchildren, you kicked the bucket, we won’t question the Almighty but will give him thanks.”
