Despite the curfew, ransacking of Government and private properties in Calabar, the Cross River State capital is still ongoing.
CrossRiverWatch has been monitoring the situation since it began yesterday. Apart from stripping the warehouses naked, scores of places have been touched.
Among the properties looted and destroyed so far, INEC, UNICAL hotel, West Africa Examination Council, WAEC, FIRS, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and 8 Miles Police Station are Federal institutions.
So far, State Government agencies touched include Ministry of Works, State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Cross River State Newspaper Cooperation, Chronicle, Cross River State Properties Limited, CROSPIL, and Garment Factory.
Meanwhile, Sen. Gershom Bassey’s house, Calabar Mall, Arab construction company and a truck load of Lafarge cement was vandalised.
Others are Calabar Discount Mall reportedly owned by Mrs Obioma Imoke, wife of former Governor Imoke, an ice cream parlor, Coldstone creamery, Domino’s Pizza, and 8 miles branch of First Bank was also attacked.
