The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of None Academic Staff of the University (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigeria University (SSANU), Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) branch have join other branches on indefinite industrial action.
This was declared in a circular today to inform it members on the resolution of JAC on Thursday.
According to the circular signed by the JAC Chairman, Comr. Enya Agbong Ekereke and NASU Chairman, Comr. Williams Ibok Asuquo, it stated that “the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of NASU and SSANU have met to analysis the resolutions from the branches and found out that 80% and 83% of NASU and SSANU branches, respectively supported an indefinite strike and was endorsed by the national body on the position of all the branches.”
Meanwhile the nationwide strike is to takes “effect from12 midnight, of 5th February 2021, until there is a contrary position or directive from JAC National.”
This is coming as the State university is to commence it first semester examination on Monday 8th February, 2021 with third year, fourth and fifth year students as the management is also trying to round up it first semester academic activities that were disrupted by the COVID-19 lockdown and the Academic Staff of University strike, that lasted for months.
