The National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN Cross River State chapter, has reiterated its commitment to get involved in politics and support for back-to-south agitation.
The reiteration was made during a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the Department of Public Transport, DOPT, Mr. Godwin Nyiam.
The Chairman of the NYCN Cross River chapter, Mr. Dan Obo in the visit said the Council will not hesitate to support the DOPT DG in his quest to become Deputy Governor if his party, the APC finds him worthy to run with Sen. Bassey Otu.
According to him: “If you look at Cross River State, things are beginning to go out of control and when it does, you find young people not being part of it, it becomes terrible.
“If your party finds you fit to be on the ballot with Sen. Prince Otu, we will not have a choice but to say okay our own is there and good to go.”
He said as a card-carrying member of PDP, his party is anti-youth.
“We stand firm with the Governor, Obong of Calabar, and our brothers from the South; that it’s their turn for their son to become Governor.
“I am a member of PDP, not a member of APC, and as today my party is anti-youth and they will hear from us, whether they were fifty people who came from the South to run, it’s none of anybody’s business. No five hundred delegates will decide the fate of Cross River, it will not work.”
Responding, Mr. Godwin Nyiam thanked the Council for counting him worthy of their support as “words are never enough. This is heartwarming for me.”
Godwin said “We have come together as young people because it is our responsibility to salvage our State from decaying irrespective of party lines
High points of the visit include the presentation of an award to the DG and group photographs.
