The Senator representing Cross River Northern Senatorial District in the ninth National Assembly, Jarigbe Agom on Saturday flagged off the construction of the 65 kilometres Okuku – Yache road which links Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State with Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The project was awarded following a letter from the lawmaker to the Federal Government.
The lawmaker, who hoped for a swift construction of the road, later proceeded to inspect the ongoing Moniaya – Ikaptang road as well as the Ogoja mini stadium and recreational centre projects.
Meanwhile, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Cross River State has admonished the All Progressives Congress, APC Northern Senatorial District candidate for the 2023 general elections, and Senator Ben Ayade to abandon his ambition and focus on his handover as the Governor of Cross River State.
A statement issued by its spokesman, Mike Ojisi said that the party is advising “Governor Ben Ayade to see the handwriting on the wall and save himself the unnecessary embarrassment and stress of contesting for the Senate seat against a renowned performer like Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe.”
The party said Governor Ayade should learn from the “misfortunes of his colleague,” Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State who was sacked as a senatorial candidate by the Federal High Court sitting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State as well as the recent electoral act.
Governor Ayade had lost the presidential primaries of the APC and contested the rerun senatorial primary in Cross River North. And, the PDP said they urge him not to waste State funds in the pursuit of an “inordinate ambition and save himself some dignity instead of walking the same road with his protégé, Dr. Stephen Odey, into ignominy.”
The PDP accused Ayade’s administration of running an opaque Government.
