Tears roll down chins at the funeral service of the late Mrs. Mary Edet, the wife of the Paramount Ruler of Bakassi His Majesty, Dr. Etim Okon.
The funeral and memorial service conducted by Great Faith Gospel Tabernacle Ministry was held at the conference hall of Calabar International Conference Center (CICC) where family, friends, and well-wishers trooped in, in numbers to bid her eternal farewell to yonder.
In a brief sermon on the topic: “A Glorious Exit”, Evangelist Daniel Duke said the bereaved don’t have to cry because Mrs. Etim lived a life worth emulation as a devoted Christian, and she has joined the cherubims and seraphims.
The clergy drawing his message from Ecclesiastes 3:1-2, 3:20, and Romans 8:28 said nobody knew when he or she was formed and none would know when he or she would depart. Quizzing he asked, “how prepared are you; you may exit gloriously or in shame.”
He averred that, at the juncture of death, there would be no more personality, titles, and connections among others.
Evang. Duke further inferred that: “in death, age doesn’t count because death is meant for young and old, rich and poor,” adding that no one has death immunity, hence, it is meant for everyone because it is God’s calendar, not man’s.
The interment was done at a sepulcher in the deceased compound, Ikot Efa, Calabar.
Among those who graced the service include Royal Fathers in Cross River State, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers, amongst others; Chairman and Vice Chairman of Bakassi LGA, former and current Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, and Commissioners, amongst other dignitaries.
