The Appeal Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State capital has reaffirmed former Attorney-General of the State, Attah Ochinke Esq. as the authentic candidate of Ikom/Boki federal constituency for the 2023 elections under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A legal practitioner, Barrister First Baba Isa disclosed this on his Facebook handle stating that “The Court of Appeal, Calabar Division, has overturned the decision of the Federal High Court, Calabar, and affirmed Attah Ochinke as the candidate of the PDP in the Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency. Congratulations to my big brother and Chairman.”
He added: “When we sat in his office in Calabar to review that Federal High Court decision, I told him categorically and prophetically that the Court of Appeal will reverse that decision. With respect, that decision of the Federal High Court was wrong and utterly misdirected.”
Ochinke, the incumbent Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Chairman, Calabar branch was declared the flag bearer of the Boki/Ikom Federal Constituency in the primaries conducted on 23 May 2022 but was marred with a court suit that ordered a rerun.
The rerun primaries produced Abang Pius as the winner. Attah however, appealed the Federal High Court judgment sacking him.
