Nine Months After, Police IG Yet To Execute Court Judgment Involving Equipment Worth Over N950 Million

By Archibong Jeremiah

Nine months after a Federal High Court in Cross River State, ordered the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba to obey and enforce a valid and subsisting judgment of the Magistrate Court in charge no. MC/53c/2019, the judgment has not been executed.

The High Court which sat in Calabar, the State capital and presided over by Justice Ayade Emmanuel Ayade directed the IG to retrieve earth moving equipment and return to Idem Esung and Ndidon Eyam worth over N950 million.

The applicants (Mrs. Idem Esung and Mr. Ndifon Eyam) had asked the court in suit no. HC/MSC./236/2021 whether the respondents (Nigerian Police Force, Inspector General of Police, and Inspector Reuben Noah) are not bound by law to obey and enforce the valid and subsisting judgment of the Magistrate Court of Cross River State in charge of no. MC/53c/2019.

The order of mandamus issued in suit no. HC/MSC./236/2021
