With just 41 days left for him in office as Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Benedict Ayade has sworn into office a new Commissioner.
The Commissioner is Mr. Udiba Effiong Udiba and will lead a new Ministry, Asset Management.
It is unclear when Mr. Udiba was appointed and his nomination confirmed by the State House of Assembly which constitutionally screens Commissioners and Special Advisers.
Until his swearing-in as Commissioner, Mr. Udiba served as the Director-General of the State Bureau for Public-Private Partnership – a position he has held for about Six years.
It is unclear why Governor Ayade created a new ministry weeks before leaving office.
However, the State had shortly after the Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections, announced plans to sell more assets – an action that has received criticism.
