The Executive Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Edet Otu earlier today, swore in 31 Commissioners, and charged them to execute their duties with a sense of responsibility and diligence.
The event which was conducted at Dan Archibong Lodge had 7 women and 24 men as Commissioners totalling 31.
Otu while addressing the Commissioners averred that “I want to believe that your stewardship is going to turn the progress for the State to move to the next level. I charge you to carry out your assignments with diligence, responsibility, accountability and commitments.
“Most of you looking round are already tested and trusted. We share a common burden and that burden is to take Cross River State to the next level and I want to believe that after one week and then after then after the retreat where you must have resumed fully, you will then understand the enormous challenge and the responsibility that we are in.
“Governor Ayade has put forward a very strong foundation as far as the agro industrial revolution is concerned. He has opened a lot of territories which we have to fill the gaps.
“The challenge is not mine alone but all of us. I know very well that all cannot be appointed the same day but for those who are appointed, you are not just answering to me but God. So all your actions and intentions must be guided by God. If you did not know how to serve before, you are not coming out to lead alone, you must learn to serve our people.”
He encouraged them and charged them to sleep no more.
“We are not unmindful of the very great and big expectations that our people want from us and whether we like it or not, we must definitely turn the corner.
“As you are going to your offices, definitely you will have challenges, and criticisms but you must not be distracted provided you are doing what is right and what is good for the people. You might not enjoy accolades at that particular time by the end of the day, in the dynamics of time, people will know that you did right.
“There comes a time in the life of the people but the direction must change. Cross River State was once a very great State. If it is time for us to climb that pedestal once more.”
