Brencare Foundation, a non-profit organization with a vision of assisting adolescent girls and teenage out-of-school mothers and other gender-related issues has extended hands of fellowship to not less than 15 beneficiaries of its scholarships and full educational kits in Cross River State.
In her recent outreach at Government Secondary School Ikot Edem Odo in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of the State, full back-to-school kits including payment of one-year school fees, distribution of school bags, uniforms, dozens of exercise books, and sanitary pads, to 15 beneficiaries of the Reintegrating Girls Into School Education (RISE) Project.
RISE is one of the organization’s initiatives that supports out-of-school adolescent girls by helping them return to formal education and gain the skills needed to reach their full potential through educational resources, mentorship, life skills training, and community engagement.
The Executive Director of Brencare Foundation, Mrs. Brenda Akpata led the initiative as the team put smiles on the faces of the female students, distributing educational materials to ease the burden of their educational journey. She called for the promotion of gender equality starting from the grassroots.
The school principal, Ntufam Fidelis Agbachom, expressed excitement and praised the Foundation for the project that remembers the less privileged.
He said the gesture is a remarkable move and one of its kind in the history of the school since it was established in 1987.
“I feel very excited because the Brencare Foundation has come to raise the hope of those who lost hope in education and believe that with or without the support of their parents, they will make it through school. I will make sure that any student who leaves school for one week without prior notice will be dropped,” he warned.
The students swimming in the ocean of elation, expressed happiness at being given a chance to go to school like their peers.
Their parents were not left out in gratitude, thanking God and the organization for using the outreach to remember them and their children/wards.
“This program will bring growth in society by reducing the rate of teenage abstinence from school due to lack of ability to further their education. Also, some children are orphans who are unable to make it through school. God bless Brencare Foundation,” one of the parents lauded.
