We Want To Make Sure Calabar Is Ebola Free – Airport Manager

The management of Margaret Ekpo International Airport Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria has disclosed to CrossRiverWatch that as a result of the panic in the country and world at large caused by the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease, EVD brought into Nigeria by Mr. Patrick Sawyer from Liberia, it has decided to embark on sensitization campaigns and screening of passengers as a residual standard and measure for safety.

The disclosure was made by the Airport Manager, Mr. Mamud Sanni yesterday in Calabar.

He said, “We management of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, Calabar have deemed it necessary that our airport been an international airport and been that we host a lot of tourists into Calabar, have seen the need for us to commence the screening of passengers”.

Mr. Mamud maintained that as part of their prevention and education strategy, they have been carrying out regular sensitization exercises for all staff in the airport.

His word: “Generally we have enlightenment exercise for all the stakeholders involved, this exercise is still happening”.

The Manager affirmed that their main objective is to ensure that Cross River State is free from the killer disease. “We want to make sure Calabar is Ebola free”, Sanni said.
