A 400 level student in the University of Calabar, UNICAL department of Mathematics and Statistic has been arrested by the Cross River State Command of the Police Special Anti Robbery Squad SARS for allegedly stealing a car.

The arrest was made on Thursday 16th July, 2015 at about 2pm by Lemna junction, 8 Miles Calabar.

This was made known to journalists by the Police Public Relations Officer for the State Command, CSP Hogan Bassey who revealed that the suspected robber allegedly stole a Land Rover jeep.

Bassey thanked Cross Riverians for giving useful information to the police and appreciated the complainant Mr. Udoh Archibong for his prompt tip off that lead to the arrest of the suspect.

On his part, the suspect, Emen Asuquo from Oron local government in Akwa Ibom State during interaction with pressmen denied his involvement in stealing the Land Rover jeep with registration number HR-550-ABC (Abuja) but accepted driving the car from Lemna junction, 8 Miles Calabar to where he was arrested by the police.

Also speaking the complainant Mr. Archibong an automobile mechanic at No 26 Target by Goldie said he left the car at his workshop to buy spare parts, before he came back the car was no longer there, immediately he called the SARS and reported the case. He thanked the Nigeria Police for their quick response.
