President Muhammadu Buhari is set to receive the “lifetime achievement award” for appointing eight (8) Cross Riverians into his administration and his qualities while serving as a military officer in Cross River as part of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the state since its creation on May 27, 1967 by former head of state, General Yakubu Gowon.
Former Cross River Governors, Donald Duke and Liyel Imoke are set to be honored with the same award a statement from the Project Director of Cross River at 50, Kammonke Abam said.
Also to be honored include late Professor Eyo Ita, Dr. Okoi Arikpo, Chief I. I. Morphy among others at an event scheduled for Thursday, May 25, 2017 in Calabar, the state capital.
This comes on the heels of the release of 50 Cross Riverians under the age of 35 to watch released by the Project Secretariat which included the founder and publisher of Calabarblog.com, Hope Obeten who is also the acting chairman of the Association of Cross River Online Journalists (ACROJ).
Also, the Director General of the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Betta Edu, the Commissioner for Finance, Asuquo Ekpenyong, SA Electronic Media to Governor Ayade, Beatrice Akpala and the MD of Tinapa Resort, Justina Ovat among others were listed.
