The Cross River State House of Assembly has confirmed the nomination of members of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

They are former Head of Service, Mrs. Mary-Theresa Ikwen, Mr. Egbara Owan and Ededia Okpo-Ere; both legal practitioners as well Elder Edem Ita Edem.

The confirmation followed the presentation of the report of the House Committee on Judiciary, Public Service Matters, Public Petitions and Conflict Resolution during plenary by the Chairman, Honorable Nelson Ofem (PDP Yakurr I) which was charged with the screening of nominees for confirmation for appointment as members of the Cross River State JSC.

Mr. Ofem in his presentation said the committee found the nominees to be proper and fit for the appointments as they will invigorate the JSC while the speaker, Honorable John Lebo said they were selected based on their past performance records.

Also, the State Chief Judge (currently, Justice Michael Edem who is in acting capacity) as well as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice (currently Barrister Joe Abang) are to serve as members in the JSC.
