Cross River Governor, Senator Ben Ayade on Thursday referred to Senator Gershom Bassey as a Governor.
Mr. Gershom represents the southern senatorial district in the 8th Senate of the national assembly and is rumored to have been favored by former Governor Liyel Imoke as his successor, but for his promise to hand power to the northern senatorial district.
And, Mr. Ayade while observing protocol at the signing of construction agreement for preliminary works with China Harbour in the executive council chambers of the governor’s office referred to Mr. Gershom as “Digital Governor.”
“Distinguished Senator Gershom Bassey, the digital Governor, the digital senator,” Ayade said, drawing laughter and cheers from his commissioners and others present.
Ayade, who smiled too, however corrected himself and said: “the digital senator representing southern senatorial district.”
