A former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party and two term House of Representatives Member, Honorable Paul Adah, has declared his ambition to contest the 2019 gubernatorial elections in Cross River State with the promise that he will do just one term in office.
Mr. Adah who defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2016 declared his interest in his Calabar residence on Sunday when he hosted party faithful from the Southern Senatorial District.
“For us, we believe in politics with real ethics not the fake ethics of deceits and lies we have now. Our interest is to do a four year single tenure where we will repair the colossal damages done to our dear state by Ayade and set the road map for the development of the state for an APC Governor from the South who will do 8 years from 2023,” Adah said.
Adah who represented the Obudu/Obanliku/Bekwarra constituency in the Green Chambers of the National Assembly said that he was on a rescue mission to save the state from the misrule of the Ben Ayade led administration.
The Obudu born politician who also represented the state on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as a Commissioner also maintained that the Civil Service in the state is grinding to a halt under Ayade, he noted that there was an urgent need to reposition the service to its proper shape.
He averred that: “I want to thank you all for honoring my invitation today. Let me officially inform you that I want to offer myself for service in 2019 as Governor. The Ayade led administration has destroyed the entire state that we need to come together for a rescue mission.
“As a man who spent over 20 years in the civil service, the condition of service I see today under Ayade is so disheartening.
“Civil servants are no longer sent out for trainings, offices that requires impress to work don’t get anything again. This is why we need to rescue our people, reposition and put things in proper shape.”
The APC chapter Chairmen, local government candidates and other stakeholders who spoke, expressed excitement over Mr. Adah’s aspiration and maintained that he has the political clout and goodwill to unseat Mr. Ayade.
