Four people have reportedly escaped death at about 11: 46am Thursday, after an Audi vehicle plunged into a gutter, close to the Central Bank of Nigeria, South-South Entrepreneurship Development Center (CBN-SS-EDC) located along Ndidem Usang Iso road formally known as Marian Road in Calabar Municipal, which is a stone throw from Mobil Filling Station.
The Audi vehicle with registration number: Cross River State, KMM-88XA and Cross River Transport Regulatory Agency (CTRA) number 0886 was said to be on speed from Marian Road approaching the traffic point interjecting Mobil Filling Station, Crunches, Aunty Margaret School and CBN-SS-EDC; after been stopped by the traffic official, so as to clear the way for vehicles crossing in the adjacent direction.
Investigations from CrossRiverWatch revealed that the vehicle had a brake failure in an attempt to stop, which prompted the driver to steer the vehicle towards the fence of the CBN-EDC located at Prof. Eyo Ita House, to avoid a head-on collision with other vehicles and road users.
As at the time of filing this report, it was also gathered that there were three female passengers in the vehicle including the driver.
However, no casualties were recorded as at press time and the car still in the drainage.
