This was disclosed in a statement signed by the acting Managing Director, Dr. Stephen Odey which said the Governor, Senator Ben Ayade has “approved the decentralization of the operations of Cross River State Water Board to make the substations self-accounting and ensure efficiency in service delivery.”

The Akamkpa, Calabar, Ikom, Itigidi, Obubra, Obudu, Ogoja, Okpoma and Ugep/Ediba water substations are now to be headed by a new GM.

They are:

Akamkpa Water Board – Edwin Asuquo

Calabar Water Board – Barr. Bassey Mensah

Ikom Water Board – Mr. Joseph Abung

Itigidi Water Board – Engr. Bassey Echemi

Obubra Water Board – Hon. Kingsley Okpah

There have been complaints about the efficiency of the board which pumped out colored water for residents in the city of Calabar earlier in the year.

The then managing director, Odu Igile said colored water did not necessarily mean it was unhealthy.
