Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has debunked claims he directed his aides to compile a list of people to be used as delegates for the forthcoming primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A statement signed by his spokesman, Mr. Christian Ita and issued on Friday said Ayade only directed that a strategy and technical paper to execute the primaries be developed and presented to him.
The statement read: “The attention of the office of the Governor of Cross River State has been drawn to a false and misleading information making the rounds that the state governor, His Excellency, Prof. Ben Ayade recently issued an order to his appointees to compile names of persons as delegates for the forthcoming People’s Democratic Party (PDP) primaries.
“This claim is not only malicious and misleading but patently false.
“The governor simply asked for a strategy and technical paper on the various steps required to be taken towards the party primaries not a delegate list collection nor zoning to be carried out.”
