As preparations for the 2019 general elections the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Cross River State has concluded a 3day training of NYSC Members to prepare them as Ad-hoc staff.
The training saw over 5, 000 Corps members posted to the State participate fully.
According to INEC Administrative Secretary, Irene Ngozi Oghuma, the training was organised to equip the attendees with necessary skills to effectively discharge their duties as Presiding Officers (POs) and Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs) during the elections.
Earlier in the capacity building program organized by the NYSC Cross River State Zonal Headquarters, the State Coordinator, Mr. Adegoke Ayodele Adewale encouraged the participants to take their security seriously and be cautious of their environment.
He stressed the need for them to remain free, fair and firm and take heed to all electoral laws and regulations throughout the polls to avoid any form of electoral malpractices which is capable of exposing them to bad light. As well as be good ambassadors.
The Coordinator finally advised them to always be fully kitted in NYSC uniform and wear their identification cards and INEC tags during the elections for easy identification in time of emergency.
