The Cross River State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on the party in Bayelsa State to be weary over Dr. Frankland Briyai’s guber ambition, calling it “a Mischief.”
In a statement singed by the State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Bassey Ita the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State and electorate were cautioned not to allow Briyai become the party Governorship candidate.
According to the release the party said Briyai’s quest to contest the November gubernatorial election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress could not have been genuine given his criminal onslaught against the same party he seeks to perfect on his ambition.
“Dr.Briyai after wrecking initial havoc on the APC in the State, still went to call some candidates to congratulate them based on the reports from the field which were in favour of the APC, but went ahead to personally upturn the results in favour of his pay masters. How absurd!” It reads.
It called on the APC and the entire Bayelsa electorates to disregard Briyai’s sudden ambition as it was a smoke’s screen to cover for the numerous sleaze he was involved in in the course of his job in Cross River office of the INEC.
The party also urged the people of Bayelsa State to consider that “with such criminal record, Briyai would become a cankerworm in the political economy of the State, thus depriving her of the necessary impetus for growth and development if elected Governor.”
To the National leadership of the party, the statement said, “Briyai’s sudden emergence in the turf should be given a second thought going by his antecedent in Cross River State” stating that “the sack hammer slammed on the former REC should be enough grounds for the party to disqualify him in order to avoid public outburst against the party.
“Briyai cannot be a forbidden fruit that should taste good in the mouth of our national echelon. We have a local parlance that says when I reject the water yam, I do not chase away the goat that comes to consume it. So Briyai having been rejected by INEC is only fit for the belly of the goat and not the APC.
“He had better gone the way of his masters. So the national echelon should disregard and reject his ambition in Bayelsa State to avoid unfavourable public remarks and sentiments”, the party stated.
The APC urged Briyai to stop deceiving the public with claims of being called upon to run.
Briyai has been contacted to respond to the allegations made by the APC in Cross River State, he’s yet to reply.
