Governor Ayade Appoints Prof. Angba As Third Acting VC Of CRUTECH

By Patrick Obia

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has appointed Professor Augustine Angba as the Acting Vice Chancellor of Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) to pilot the affairs of the institution for the next three months.

Augustine Angba, born on 4th May, 1969 in Uchu Yache, Yala Local Government Area, is a professor of agricultural extension in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Calabar and also former Rector of the Institute of Technology and Management (ITM) Ugep, is appointed to take over from Professor Ogar David Abua after his three months tenure elapsed.

Recall that Professor Ogar David Abua took over the batton of the Ag. Vice Chancellor of CRUTECH on November 17, 2019 from Odukpani born Professor Akon Joshua who served two tenures (six months) after the period of Professor Anthony Own Enoh came to an end as the vice Chancellor of the varsity.

This is very bad development for Ayade administration and CRUTECH. Why is Ayade running CRUTECH to extinction? Where is the governing body? Why can’t the governing body run advertisements and hire VC? No academic institution will achieve its goals when it is administered by acting VCs on three months appointments. Ayade the professor, you should know this! CRS will suffer for a very long time to come.

My fear for cross river state is the fact that those who should speak out are silent. The reason is that they too have soiled their hands and feet. They sold it to someone who knows little or nothing about governance. Its sad indeed. When shall the state enjoy good governance? Since inception of democracy in Nigeria in 1999. I weep for CRS.
