Different areas in Calabar, the Cross River State capital are currently facing security challenges despite the curfew imposed by the Governor, Benedict Ayade earlier on Friday following the plundering of a warehouse containing COVID-19 palliatives.
As at press time, the Calabar Discount Mall, reportedly owned by Mrs Obioma Imoke, wife of former Governor Imoke has also been plundered with items recently ordered catered away by residents.
An ice cream parlor, Domino’s Pizza and Coldstone Creamery was also attacked.
Meanwhile, the 8 miles branch of First Bank was torched while armed robbers are said to have invaded some homes around the premises.
However, sources close to the Police Commissioner, Lanre Jimoh say that policemen have since been drafted there.
Three warehouses within a four kilometer radius belonging to the Cross River State government were earlier ransacked with one set ablaze.
The warehouse at the premises of the headquarters of the Cross River State Property Investment Limited (CROSPIL) located at Bishop Moynagh Avenue; the one operated by the State Emergency Management Agency at Barracks road and one at the premises of the Ministry of Works headquarters were plundered with food items catered away.
The one at SEMA was razed including the advertising department of the Nigerian Chronicle, the State Newspaper Corporation.

The plundering is a repeat of similar incidents in Lagos and Akwa Ibom States.
The acts have been described as a fallout from the abrupt end to the #EndSARS protests across the globe which saw many match against police brutality in Nigeria.
