Mr. Alhassan Aminu on Wednesday, officially resumed duties as the 42nd Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of the Cross River State Command.
This follows the redeployment of his predecessor, CP Sikiru Akande to head the ICT unit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory after alleged pressure to get him out of the State by Governor Ben Ayade.
CP Aminu was among 12 other CPs deployed to head different commands last week which included Cross River born CP Echeng Eworo Echeng who is now in charge of Bayelsa State command.
CP Akande presented the hand over notes to CP Aminu on Wednesday morning with the duo posing for photographs afterwards.
CP Aminu was promoted to his current rank earlier this year and had served as a Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Bayelsa State command.
Meanwhile, CP Akande who is said to have been friendly took to Facebook to pen a heartfelt message to Cross Riverians.
“I love you guys, the people of Cross River State… You people are wonderful,” he wrote, adding that: “I will never forget the love and care that you have shown me and my family. Thanks for you time and love. I LOVE MY CROSS RIVER PEOPLE.”
