A frontline aspirant for the Ogoja/Yala federal constituency seat, Henry Igelle Onwe has hailed the emergence of Alphonsus Eba as the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Cross River State.
Eba had emerged as the consensus candidate for the Governor’s faction on Saturday while Egbeji “Jallo” John emerged in a parallel congress.
Onwe who won three online polls over who should emerge as the House of Representatives member representing Ogoja/Yala in a statement extolled Eba’s virtues which he said, “endeared him to the leadership and members of the party thereby singling him out to occupy the high office of Chairman of the APC in the state.”
“Without doubt, your sterling personality as a man of intergrity, staunch commitment to the cause of democracy and unwavering loyalty have made you the obvious choice for this position and I pray God to continue to lead you as your steer the ship of the party to lofty heights,” Onwe wrote.
Onwe urged Eba to use his background as a lawyer of repute to ensure equity, justice and fairplay while emphasising generational shift at all times in conducting the affairs of the party.
He also congratulated the Organising Secretary, Thomas Aruku and expressed optimism that his experience will be brought to bare in future elections.
“I am confident that as a young man of proven capacity, you are a square peg in a square hole and expectedly, organization of the affairs of our great party to victory in all elections is a done deal,” he wrote and hailed party stalwarts for “a rancor free Congress.”
