#CRSDecides2022: ‘Dont Be Agents Of Rigging’ – NUJ To Police, Army

The chairman of the Cross River council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Victor Udu has sued for professionalism by personnel of the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Police Force in the February 26th 2022 legislative by-elections in the State.

Two legislative seats – Ogoja/Yala federal constituency and Akpabuyo State constituency are up for grabs.

And, Mr. Udu who took to Facebook to announce his position also called on the people to resist any attempt that will cause mayhem.

The call comes amidst criticisms of the ban on civil society activities and an attempt to stifle dissenting voices by the opposition.

Meanwhile, the Cross River State Police command says it will coordinate the activities of other security agencies and will restrict movement in the three Local Government Areas affected on Saturday.

Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency Election:

We call on security forces especially the Army and the Police to show very high level of discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

Please, ensure we have a peaceful election. Don’t be used as agents to facilitate rigging or enhance any politicians’ selfish agenda.

We call on the people to resist every attempt to cause mayhem or shed blood.
