The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Peter Akpanke has been declared winner of the Saturday’s House of Representatives elections in the Obudu/Obanliku/Bekwara federal constituency.
He was declared winner moments ago by the returning officer, Mr. Callistus Ubleble after polling 32,576 votes to beat his closest rival and two term federal lawmaker, Honorable Legor Idagbo of the All Progressives Congress who scored 25,819 votes.
Akpanke polled over 46.6 percent of the 69,896 votes cast of which 2,717 were invalid with the total valid votes pegged at 67,179. A total of 70,817 out of the 272,002 registered voters were accredited for the polls held across 30 wards of the three Local Government Areas.
The Labor Party candidate polled 3,529 while that of the People Redemption Party clinched 567. Also, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress clinched 239 while that of the New Nigerian People’s Party garnered 203.
Furthermore, the National Rescue Movement candidate clinched 122 votes with that of the Social Democratic Party scoring 68 while the Young Progressives Party candidate polled the least votes, 9.
