A 16-year-old, Asuquo George is currently battling with his leg and life after he was knocked down by a hit-and-run driver in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
He was in March 2023 knocked down by a reckless driver in Calabar metropolis which almost cost him his life on the spot.
But the teenager was given hope for survival when Street Priests, a non-profit organization at the forefront of protecting vulnerable children in Cross River State and beyond, came to his rescue.
Though the NGO had catered for Asuquo’s medical expenses, thanks to spirited individuals effort also.
However, Asuquo needs over seven hundred and fifty-three thousand (753,000) Naira, approximately $1000 which is to cater for post-surgical expenses, medication, feeding, and care for the next three months after he had undergone the surgery.
In a video obtained by CrossRiverWatch, the Community Director of Street Priests Inc, Godwin Ohara solicits support from all and sundry to help cater for the necessary treatment of little George.
“We have a child whose name is Asuquo George, he was involved in a hit-and-run accident over three months ago that almost cost his leg and life. We found him and were able to send him for surgery.
“The surgery was successful, thanks to our communities both online and offline who were willing to donate time and resources to save George’s life.
“Over the past three months, George has been in recovery mode. He has made significant progress but the journey is far from over.
“We are here to call for your support once again for the next phase of George’s recovery which requires a total sum of seven hundred and fifty-three thousand (753,000) Naira, approximately $1000 which is to cater for surgical expenses, medication, feeding, and care for the next three month.”
