In a positive turn of events, singer Iyanya has announced the recovery of the remaining diamond chain belonging to his colleague, Mayorkun, which was previously reported as stolen.
On Thursday, Iyanya took to his social media platform to share the news, posting a video showcasing the retrieved jewelry.
Iyanya acknowledged the return of the second pendant and credited the efforts of those involved in its recovery on his post on his X account on Thursday.
Iyanya disclosed that the pendant was handed over to Hon. Effiong Ekpenyong, Special Adviser, Events Management, Governor’s Office, Calabar, after being received by Mr. Duke Emmanuel at Hit FM Calabar.
He wrote, “Thank you to my Calabar people for doing what’s right. # Mayorkun’s second pendant has been found.
“This morning we got a call that it was returned to #HitFMCalabar and was received by Mr. Duke Emmanuel who later transferred the pendant to Hon. Effiong Ekpenyong MNIPR, FCAI Special Adviser Events Management, Governor’s Office, Calabar.
“We are and will remain a peaceful and hospitable state, Cross River State. Thank you.”
The positive development follows Iyanya’s earlier revelation on Tuesday that one of Mayorkun’s stolen diamond chains had been recovered and returned to The Grand Hotel Calabar.
Mayorkun had expressed dissatisfaction with the theft of an undisclosed item during his recent concert in Calabar and vowed not to perform in the city again.
However, following a meeting with the Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, Mayorkun received assurance of compensation for his lost valuables in Calabar.
Iyanya, in response to Mayorkun’s predicament, not only offered support but promised compensation to anyone facilitating the return of the stolen item.
